Hello, my name is Tamera Bowyer and I am a currently a student at Arizona State University (ASU) pursuing a BIS major in the fields of communication and sociology. I feel that these two social sciences are very important and a background in the two can prove to be very valuable in today’s ever changing workplace environment. To have the ability to relate to others though experiences and education allows you to take that information and combine it together for effective communications. Gazing forward into the future, I believe that an interdisciplinary approach of sociology and communication will be the best way to set a stage for new ways to better interact with other people.

My Life’s Purpose
In my personal search for meaning, I found one of my lifes purpose is in the service of serving other people. I believe that I have a gift in communication and understanding others and I hope to help people grow by building themselves up for the better and building strong relationships with them. Many people are very unhappy in their jobs because they chose an occupation that does not align with their purpose. I do not want to be one of those people who are unhappy with their career because they choose an occupation that is unfulfilling to them. I plan on finding meaningful work that will help me achieve satisfaction and fulfillment in my life. My long term goals are to go back to school to acquire a masters in psychology, and pursue opportunities to help people through building relationships and contributing to society by making a positive imprint in the world whether it is large or small.
